Hailing from the misty mountains of Fujian Province, our Superfine Golden Monkey is a luxurious black tea crafted from the delicate buds and first leaves of Fuding Pekoe. This celebrated tea undergoes traditional processing — including light sun withering, gentle rolling, controlled fermentation, and careful drying — to preserve its complex character and smooth texture.

A tea of distinction, Golden Monkey was famously served at the White House in 2011 during a meeting between the Presidents of the United States and China, a testament to its exceptional quality and cultural significance.

In the cup, it delivers a rich, aromatic experience:

This is a tea for those who appreciate nuance—bold yet balanced, it can deliver multiple infusions without losing its depth. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or exploring fine black teas, Golden Monkey is a captivating and rewarding brew.

Leaf Appearance: Fine, thin, twisted, tippy leaves with few subtle gold tips.
Origin: Fuding(福鼎), Fujian (福建) province, China
These leaves come from the Da Bai Hao (大白毫), 'Large White' tea plants. The same plants are typically harvested for white tea; hence, they are considered to be the black counterpart to Yin Zhen Silver Needle white tea.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight. Re-seal the packaging between uses.

How to Brew

  • Use one teaspoon of leaves (roughly 3g) for each person you are brewing tea for.
  • Boil your water and let it cool; it should be around 95 degrees (100-degree water will scorch the tea)
  • Steep for 3-5 minutes according to taste.
  • Reuse the leaves a further 3 times, by simply adding more hot water.
