This delicious pine-smoked Lapsang Souchong (正山小种) offers a medium to strong smoke profile, reminiscent of classic “Tiger” style Lapsang teas. Carefully smoked over pine wood (松木), the tea develops a rich brown liquor and a distinctive, warming smokiness.

The name Lapsang Souchong comes from the Fuzhou dialect (福州方言) of Fujian. The original Chinese name Zhengshan Xiaozhong (正山小种) literally means “small-leaf tea from the authentic mountain origin.” “Souchong” traditionally refers to the larger, mature leaves used in production.

Produced in the Wuyi Mountains (武夷山) of Fujian Province (福建), this famous Chinese black tea (红茶) has been enjoyed for centuries and is widely considered the world’s first smoked tea.
